Governance Models to Drive Digital Health Transformation
Insights from Rwanda, Ghana, India, Brazil, and Finland
The Center for Digital Health Innovation is hosting a webinar series on the determinants of success for digital transformation in primary healthcare. Based on multi-country research conducted by the Digital Health Exemplars (DHE) project, this series will share research findings and policy implications from five noteworthy countries at different stages of digital maturity: Brazil, Finland, Ghana, India, and Rwanda. Topics will examine key enablers in digital transformation, such as digital governance, interoperability, and private sector engagement, as well as digital health interventions driving change, such as telemedicine and health insurance electronic claims systems.
Our first webinar, "Governance Models to Drive Digital Health Transformation: Insights from Rwanda, Ghana, India, Brazil and Finland", focuses on digital governance, the cornerstone enabler for digital transformation. Speakers will discuss the lessons learned from the various governance models, strategies, policies, and implementation approaches undertaken by each of the DHE countries.
This event will be co-hosted with the World Bank Joint Learning Network team, as part of the Exemplars in Global Health initiative. The DHE project represents a broader partnership comprising the Johns Hopkins Center for Global Digital Health Innovation, the Center for Digital Health and Implementation Science at the University of Gondar, the World Bank, McKinsey Health Institute, and the Gates Foundation (the funder). The Exemplar country research is led by country-based research partners: Africa Quantitative Sciences (Rwanda), University of Ghana School of Public Health (Ghana), Indian Institute of Health Management Research (India), and Instituto de Estudos para Políticas de Sáude (Brazil).
Our panelists will include:
- Vesa Jormanainen, Senior Ministerial Advisor, Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, Finland
- Andrew Muhire, Acting Chief Digital Officer, Ministry of Health, Republic of Rwanda
- Marelize Gorgens, Lead for Digital and AI for Human Capital, World Bank
