Center Faculty and Students connect and share at the 2024 SAVIR Conference

The Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR) held their annual conference April 15-17 in Chapel Hill, NC. This year’s event was sold out with over 400 participants in attendance. Faculty and students from the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy (the Center) were excited to participate in the proceedings with eight oral presentations and five posters on display during the conference. 

Renee M. Johnson, PhD, MPH, Director of Training and Education for the Center, was a panelist during Tuesday morning’s plenary session. Led by Carol Runyan, the session highlighted the history of injury and violence prevention and how the field can move forward.

Former Center Director Stephen Teret, JD, MPH was honored with the SAVIR Presidential Award, which recognizes an individual for distinguished lifetime achievements in advancing the field of violence and injury prevention. Congratulations Steve!

SAVIR’s 2025 annual conference will be held in New York City from April 7th-9th – save the date!
