Laboratory
The ALIVE study is home to professors, researchers, clinicians, students and staff with a wide range of scientific expertise and interests, all connected with the common goal of studying HIV/AIDS in a cohort of injecting drug users in Baltimore, Maryland.
ALIVE coordiantes with the Johns Hopkins Biological Respository. Laboratory staff are responsible for processing and testing speciments to measure HIV-positivity, viral load, T-cell counts and presence of hepatitis viruses. In addition, they are responsible for storing speciments in freezers and ensuring that they are accurately labeled
and processed according to established protocols.
