Injury Center Receives 3-Year Bloomberg American Health Initiative Award

Published

The Center for Injury Research and Policy (Injury Center) is thrilled to have been awarded a three year grant from the Bloomberg American Health Initiative (Initiative). This award will bring together the Injury Center and Suicide Prevention Working Group within the Bloomberg School of Public Health to address suicide in the United States.

The $750,000 award will support the establishment of the Hub for Outreach, Prevention, and Epidemiology in Suicide (HOPES) initiative. Combining the infrastructure and track record of impact of the Injury Center with the deep, multi-disciplinary experience and expertise of the Suicide Prevention Working Group, together this accomplished group of faculty will strategically bring research, policy, and practice together to realize meaningful reductions in suicide in the U.S. With aims heavily focused on suicide-prevention research translation, the HOPES team will identify high impact opportunities to reduce suicide, respond with evidence-based interventions designed to target those opportunities, support the next generation of suicide-prevention public health leaders, and secure funding to leverage the Initiative investment in suicide prevention in the immediate and long-term.
