Awards and Achievements

We’re proud of the achievements of our team and the caliber of work they help researchers produce. The publications and presentations to which we contribute routinely appear in leading journals and are recognized for their quality and impact in their respective research subject areas.

2024

Chathurangi Pathiravasan was a JHU sub-award PI on a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from NIH  titled Bilateral Acoustic Sensing and Automated Breathing Segmentation for Remote Monitoring of Patients with COPD  to test the use of technology monitor and promote better care for patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Chathurangi Pathiravasan and Ahmed Sabit co-authored Arm Position and Blood Pressure Readings: The ARMS Crossover Randomized Clinical Trial, published in JAMA internal Medicine.

Gayane Yenokyan co-authored Revisiting the Plasmodium sporozoite inoculum and elucidating the efficiency with which malaria parasites progress through the mosquito, which was a Nature Communications Editor’s highlights featured article.

Erik Westlund presented on the principles of good data visualization, “Data Visualization: The substance, statistics, and design behind good, honest graphics,” attended by NIH staff and faculty from 12 different research centers participating in the Maternal Health Data Innovation and Coordinating Hub of the NIH Maternal Health Research Centers of Excellence initiative.

Sophia Li and Gayane Yenokyan presented at the Gender Data Analysis Workshop in partnership with Gender Equity Unit and Data 4 Health. The workshop in Nairobi was hosted by Kenya's National Council for Population Development (NCPD).

2023

Andre Hackman received the Golden Apple Award. The Golden Apple is awarded to four faculty members for excellence in teaching. The winners are chosen by votes from the entire BSPH student body.

Gayane Yenokyan and Ahmed Sabit co-authored the JAMA Network paper Public Support for Vehicle Technology to Prevent Operation by Impaired Drivers (Collaborating with the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy and PI: Johnathon Ehsani), which was featured in Forbes magazine.

2021

Gayane Yenokyan, Jiangxia Wang and their Wilmer collaborators’ application for Wilmer to become one of the AAO IRIS Registry Analytic Centers was approved in January 2022. The Intelligent Research in Sight (IRIS) Registry is the nation's first comprehensive eye disease clinical registry and the world’s largest specialty clinical data registry. Wilmer is planning to be integrated with the IRIS registry and become an Analytic Center in 2023.
