Make a Gift to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse
Your donation to the Moore Center of any size will go directly to research, advocacy, and educational efforts that prevent child sexual abuse through evidence-based policies and programs. Only prevention can move us toward a world without child sexual abuse.
One Donor’s Story
Heather has spent decades healing from the sexual abuse she experienced as a child. Participating in therapy and supporting non-profits focused on survivors of sexual abuse have been important parts of her recovery. But the interior designer and artist, who lives in California, felt something was missing.
When she discovered the Moore Center for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse and learned about the Center’s focus to prevent child sexual abuse from ever happening, she knew she had found what she was looking for.
“What if my family member who abused me had found help before the abuse started?” she remembers thinking.
“I was drawn to the Moore Center’s efforts to get to the root cause of child sexual abuse and understand these behaviors,” she said. “We can’t just keep putting out fires.” Motivated by the Moore Center’s perpetration prevention research, Heather became a donor.
“I feel uniquely equipped to extend compassion to someone who might be at risk of becoming an abuser,” she said. “We have to include the perpetrator in treating this public health problem. We are all together in this. Punishment alone isn’t enough and is not solving the problem.”
