Background

Johns Hopkins is committed to bringing evidence and expertise to the policymaking space as part of our mission for a healthier, more equitable world. The Lerner Center for Public Health Advocacy is hosting a one-day session that offers practical insights, knowledge, and skills to enhance influence with decisionmakers at all levels, from city councils to international governing bodies.

Objectives

  • Demystify the “who, how, what, when, and where” of public health policy change
  • Gain practical advocacy skills that can be immediately applied to your work
  • Identify a clear policy 'ask’ associated with your public health issue
  • Craft an advocacy plan that includes a series of targeted objectives, actionable tactics, and organizational partners

Eligibility and Application Information

Open to faculty and staff working in public health advocacy at schools and programs of public health. Applicants must have an identified specific public health problem with a clear intended impact. Space is limited, and priority will be given to those who demonstrate the strongest potential to drive meaningful change.

Applications will be open in April 2025.
