Mission

The Center for Drug Safety and Effectiveness is committed to a fourfold mission of training, research, clinical care and public service to improve the safety and effectiveness of prescription drugs in the United States and around the world.

Training

To develop a workforce with skills to design and conduct state-of-the-art experimental and observational research in pharmacoepidemiology and drug safety.

Research

To generate fundamental new knowledge and methods to examine medication effectiveness, safety and utilization and the impact of drug policies through evidence-synthesis, experimental and observational research.

Clinical Care

To work with institutional partners to implement processes to assure safer and more effective use of medicines throughout Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Public Service

To provide evidence-based information and advocacy about safe and effective medication use for clinicians, patients, policymakers and the general public.
