Description: 

Demonstrates a practical approach to big data: where to find it, how to store and analyze it, and why to use it. Provides a technical overview of the utilization of big data with the inclusion of several case examples and inclusion of industry leaders in the application of big data to health care.

Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
1. Define big data
2. Identify sources of big data
3. Enumerate common methods for analysis of big data
4. Describe potential pitfalls of big data analyses
5. Form clinical questions that might be answered by big data

Methods of Assessment:

Students will be evaluated based on attendance and participation.
