Johns Hopkins Congressional Briefing: Exploring The Food Insecurity Crisis

Johns Hopkins University will host a live virtual briefing for congressional staff and policymakers about food insecurity, malnutrition, and the socioeconomic dynamics of hunger set against a backdrop of major supply chain disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and war in Ukraine. 

The briefing will provide attendees with an opportunity to learn about the latest research from experts, who will also answer questions in real time.

The Johns Hopkins experts scheduled to speak are:  

  • Jessica Fanzo, Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Global Food Policy and Ethics, SAIS, Bloomberg School of Public Health, Berman Institute of Bioethics. 

  • Laura Samuel, Assistant Professor, School of Nursing; Core Faculty, Johns Hopkins Center on Aging and Health; Principal Faculty, Center for Equity in Aging. 

  • Roni Neff, Associate Professor, Bloomberg School of Public Health; Food System Sustainability and Public Health, Center for a Livable Future 

  • Parul Christian, Professor and Director, Program in Human Nutrition, Bloomberg School of Public Health. 

  • Moderator: Lainie Rutkow, Vice Provost for Interdisciplinary Initiatives, will moderate the discussion.
