Student Research Assistant – Men’s engagement in immunization

About IVAC: The mission of the International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is to accelerate global access to life-saving vaccines through the development and implementation of evidence-based policies. The work of IVAC focuses on disease epidemiology, vaccine economics and supply, monitoring and evaluation of vaccine introduction and Center programs, and advocacy and communications activities to increase the profile of and global action on vaccine-preventable disease.

About the project

IVAC is partnering in francophone countries to test strategies for enhancing men’s engagement in child health and immunization. The aim of the project is to employ a combination of best practices and innovative methods to determine optimum strategies for engaging men in childcare.


The student will support research activities for the successful and timely completion of the implementation science project. Specific activities will include:

  • Be the principal French speaking liaison between JHU and country teams.
  • Support project planning and management activities.
  • Participate in developing study protocol and tools, and support its translation to French, as needed.
  • Support any training and data collection activities that require French expertise.

Expected Start and End Date

Available immediately and will run to September 2024 with the possibility of extension depending on the project timelines.

Time Commitment and Compensation
10-20 hours per week. Paid opportunity.

IVAC’s office (415 N Washington St, Baltimore, MD)and/or remotely, upon agreement of supervisor


Required qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a JHU graduate program in public health
  • Spoken, reading and writing proficiency in French. Formal certification is a plus
  • Excellent critical reading skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work across time zones and in multi-cultural teams.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office
  • Preferred qualifications
  • Prior experience in managing implementation science projects
