Vaccine hesitancy is a global issue of increasing importance. In 2019, the World Health Organization declared vaccine hesitancy one of the top ten threats to global health, as reluctance and refusal to vaccinate jeopardizes progress made towards ensuring all children receive life-saving vaccinations. The Sustaining Access to Vaccines in India (SAVI) project reviewed the available literature on vaccine hesitancy, specifically in South Asia, to develop a concise brief defining the growing issue, detailing drivers and facilitators of hesitancy, and providing recommendations to address vaccine hesitancy in South Asia.
