Housing instability and intimate partner violence (IPV) are mutually reinforcing, and compromise community safety and stability. The annual DV Counts! Census conducted by NNEDV reports an average of 60% of requests for unmet needs are attributable to survivor requests for shelter or housing that is not available. Yet, survivors of IPV are consistently undercounted in HUD’s annual point-in-time and housing inventory counts, which has implications for how housing resources are distributed.
Join us on March 6 at 3PM for a webinar highlighting how local Continuums of Care and housing programs can work more collaboratively to ensure that IPV survivors experiencing homelessness are included in national counts in a way that protects their confidentiality and safety. Featuring remarks from HUD’s Director of Gender Based Violence Prevention and Equity, Karlo Ng; new research led by Michele Decker, Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Global Women’s Health and Gender Equity; and practice considerations from Janice Miller, Senior Housing Associate at Technical Assistance Collaborative, this webinar will include guidance on identifying and engaging your local Victim Service Providers in a mutually beneficial partnership that strengthens your community’s coordinated response to address homelessness and housing instability for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.
