Gig workers usually take on small jobs, ‘gigs’, either on a part-time basis or in addition to a full-time job. They are often paid by the amount of time or task they spend on each gig they complete. Rideshare driving, a type of gig work, is a growing U.S. job where there is limited information about the occupational health and safety concerns faced by individuals who are employed through ridesharing online applications. In this seminar, findings from a qualitative study interviewing rideshare shares for their perceived health and safety concerns will be presented.
