Support MMI

The Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology pursues research that aims to advance the understanding of the biology of disease and to use this knowledge to solve public health problems.

Research takes place in the laboratory, in the clinic, and in the field, as the faculty works to combat such enormous public health problems as malaria, sexually transmitted diseases, mosquito-borne encephalitis, tuberculosis, diarrhea, measles, AIDS, and autoimmune diseases.

While our programs are mainly funded by federal grants they also depend on philanthropic gifts that enable the pursuit of high-risk research and related activities that cannot be supported by federal funding. Gifts are also essential for the support of student fellowships, travel and meeting fellowships and faculty chairs.
