Alan employs chemistry foundations to biogeochemical processes to address issues of anthropogenic chemicals in the environment and engineered systems.

Alexandra Phelan, SJD, is an expert in legal and policy issues related to emerging and infectious disease outbreaks with a focus on the impact of global change events on health.

Alexandra Maertens, PhD ‘14, uses machine learning to study how chemicals perturb cellular signaling and cause toxicity, and how to design safer chemicals.

Amanda Kobokovich, MPH, is interested in the applications of laboratory science to enhance preparedness and response efforts in large-scale disease outbreaks.

Ana Rule, PhD ’05, MHS '98, focuses on the development and evaluation of novel sampling and analysis strategies for assessments of exposure to biological aerosols, e-cigarette aerosols, and particulate matter.

Anita Cicero, JD, is Deputy Director at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security where she helps to lead strategic planning, program development, budgeting, and health security policy development.

Ben, the Theodore M. and Kay W. Schad Professor of Environmental Management, uses systems analysis and economics to improve electric utility planning, operations, and policy, as well as management of environmental and water resources systems.

Benjamin Huynh, PhD, uses data science and AI to address public health issues related to environmental injustices and disasters.

Brian Schwartz, MD, MS, GME ’90, uses environmental epidemiology to evaluate the drivers of sustainability health impacts, such as energy, agriculture, and built environments.

Carsten's research focuses on the occurrence and fate of organic contaminants in the urban water cycle and their impact on environmental and human health.
