About

Mission Statement

The mandate of the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department is to further basic science knowledge that is relevant to public health and to the core mission of our home, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Our goal is to do so in an environment enriched by diversity: in people, in perspectives, and in thought. In keeping with our school’s inspiring vision, we seek knowledge at the cellular and molecular level that can "save lives—millions at a time."

The focus of our research activities, past and present, includes cellular stress responses, genome integrity through DNA replication and repair pathways, protein homeostasis, structural biology, cancer, aging, stem cells, and reproductive biology.
