New funding to build the evidence based on sexual violence prevention on college campuses

Researchers at the Center for Global Women’s Health and Gender Equity have been awarded a Phase 2 Cooperative Agreement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for their work in environmental and situation prevention of sexual violence, in collaboration with policy and practitioner partners at Maryland Department of HealthMaryland Coalition Against Sexual AssaultBowie State University, and St. Mary's College of Maryland.

Why Nairobi GBV survivors don’t seek help: New data from Agile 2.0 profiled in The Star

Data from Center-led projects in Nairobi Kenya, in collaboration with Kenyatta University Women’s Economic Empowerment Hub (KU WEE Hub), and ICRH Kenya, demonstrate that survivors of intimate partner violence and non-partner sexual violence are not seeking help for their experiences, owing to fear, stigma, and shame. As reported by The Star, Nairobi, the data revealed approximately one in three GBV survivors seek help and one in two speak to someone about their experience.
