Summer Institute in Environmental Health and Engineering

Daily Logistics

All classes will be held at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, located at 615 North Wolfe Street, in East Baltimore. The only exception to this is the short course Urban Agriculture and Public Health, which will be held at the Cylburn Arboretum.

The Summer Institute ‘Headquarters’ will be located in room E7527, which is the main office for the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering (on the 7th floor, east wing of the Wolfe Street building).

The School and University are convenient to bus, light-rail and subway. In addition, Baltimore is served by both Amtrak and the Baltimore-Washington International Airport. Students who will be driving to the medical campus may park in the Washington Street parking garage. The Institute will provide discounted parking coupons for purchase at final registration.

While enrolled in the Summer Institute, participants will have access to the Welch Medical Library at the School of Medicine and the Eisenhower Library at the Homewood campus.

There are many eating facilities available to students during the day. The Garden Plate, located on the ninth floor of the School of Public Health, is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and serves breakfast and lunch. The Daily Grind is located on the second floor Mezzanine, and features not only espressos and made-to-order specialty drinks, but boasts daily specials as well as wraps, salads and sandwiches. Johns Hopkins Hospital, located across the street from the Bloomberg School of Public Health has a number of dining options.

Numerous eateries, such as the Northeast Market at 2101 Monument Street, are within walking distance of the School.
