The PhD program provides advanced training in the application of research methods to understand and enhance public mental health.

The 5-year PhD program allows students to focus on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that drive infectious and immune diseases, the opportunity to take courses focused on a specific research area, and to benefit from lab rotations, mentored research, and professional development.

The emphasis of the PhD program is to integrate coursework in life course, population and core PFRH areas of interest with the application of a range of research methods to these areas.

Training is offered through a core methodologic sequence with the addition of more focused courses in specialized areas. Most training areas of concentration require specific courses. Students are expected to tailor their curricula, working with their advisers to create a comprehensive plan of study and research.
