The Biostatistics Department in the Bloomberg School of Public Health has been ranked #1 in the 2025 U.S. News and World Report rankings by its peers. According to U.S. News and World Report, these public health rankings were “computed solely from the results of peer assessment surveys completed by deans, other administrators, or faculty at accredited degree programs or schools.”

“While I care much more about how we, as individuals in and affiliated with the Department, are doing, and know personally how excellent we all are, both personally and professionally, it is also gratifying to have this recognition by our peers,” says Elizabeth Stuart, PhD, Frank Hurley and Catharine Dorrier Professor and Department Chair in Biostatistics.

Founded in 1918, the Johns Hopkins Biostatistics Department is the oldest department of its kind in the world, with a rich history of outstanding contributions in both research and education.

The Bloomberg School was again recognized as the #1 public health school in the nation, where it has held the top spot since 1994, the year the rankings began. Additional rankings for Johns Hopkins University programs for 2025 can be found online.
