Associate professor Carsten Prasse was recognized by the American Chemical Society as a 2024 Rising Star in Environmental Research. "It's an honor to be part of this group of talented, early-career researchers whose work I greatly respect," said Prasse. Prasse's Rising Stars article titled “Solid-Phase Reactivity-Directed Extraction (SPREx): An Alternative Approach for Simultaneous Extraction, Identification, and Prioritization of Toxic Electrophiles Produced in Water Treatment Applications.” "Our assay aims to address challenges associated with prioritization and identification of toxic water treatment byproducts in complex environmental mixtures," he said.
