Project Description

The assigned student will be traveling to Chitwan, Nepal, and spending time with the local psychosocial organization, Prime Nepal. The project explores individual and group accounts of left-behind family members due to international migration, from the perspectives of caretakers and adolescents. The student may also be granted the opportunity to follow staff members as they go out to the community to conduct interviews and focus groups (though data collection for this study is complete, students are able to observe ongoing data collection for other studies). This will allow the integration of class material at JHSPH into the global health setting and grant first-hand experience to the final phases in research.

Scope of Work

In Nepal, the student will mainly focus on data analysis and paper write-up, communicating and confirming arising themes with those present in the office. The secondary data they will help to analyze is from a study entitled "Experience of Nepalese Families Separated through Labor Migration: A Qualitative Study."
